Amid decisions of his own pending retirement, NRL star Greg Inglis called Ray Hadley to check on his welfare.

The 32-year-old announced his immediate retirement from Rugby League on Monday, after years of crippling injuries.

“In the middle of all the other drama in his life, he took a few minutes out of his time to see if I was okay and to see if my family were okay.

“I have enormous respect for him as a human being and as a man.”

Inglis and Ray have built a mateship over the past year, with the former NRL star speaking candidly about his mental health issues.
