‘I’m very angry’: Labor leader Jodi McKay determined to act on donations scandal
Labor leader Jodi McKay says there needs to be a change to the political donations framework after explosive allegations of misconduct.
The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) is investigating claims Labor disguised $100,000 worth of illegal donations from Chinese property developer Huang Xiangmo.
Ms McKay called for General Secretary Kaila Murnain to be suspended after she was implicated in allegations revealed in the ICAC hearings.
The Labor leader tells Steve Price things need to change.
“I’m angry, I’m very angry.
“I think that the challenge for me, and I would see that the challenge for Gladys as well, is to make sure we have political parties and MPs that are better than this.
“I think there needs to be commentary from me and strong decision from me in regard to what we do within the party but also political donations.”
