Australia’s iconic Weis Bars will no longer be made in Queensland after the new owners have decided to close the original factory.

For more than 60 years the much loved ice-cream bar has been made in the original Toowoomba factory.

New owners, Unilever, now plan to close the QLD factory and manufacture the ice cream interstate.

Mayor of Toowoomba, Paul Antonio tells Steve Price he is shocked with the news the business is going to be taken away.

“The absolute water tight commitment was given to me as mayor… that this was going to remain in Toowoomba.

“I’m stunned… this is part of our history.”
