Senator Fraser Anning has been condemned after using a Nazi term to call for an overhaul of migration.

The Katter’s Australian Party member used his maiden speech in federal parliament to push for a ban on Muslim migration.

Senator Anning suggested a public vote on the matter would be the “final solution” to Australia’s immigration problems, echoing a phrase historically associated with Nazi Germany.

His Senate colleagues lined up to criticise the remarks, including his former party leader Pauline Hanson.

During a press conference, Bob Katter said, “it was a magnificent speech. It was solid gold”.

“Absolutely, 1000 per cent I support everything he said.”

Senator Molan tells Chris Smith he expects Mr Anning will apologise.

“I suspect that in due course when he considers the words that he used, he may make an apology in the future.

“I certainly advise him to do that.

“It’s been a mad week so far, and it’s just going to get madder.”
