How much should we look into today’s lopsided poll results?

With the looming federal election coming, today’s Newspoll numbers have shown Australians may have turned their backs on the Coalition.

Despite low death rates, high vaccination numbers, and a bounce-back of the economy, the handling of the summer Omicron outbreak has seemed to not do any favours for Scott Morrison with numbers slipping to their lowest levels since 2018.

The Australian National Editor Dennis Shanahan has told Jim Wilson, “People are unhappy with Scott Morrison”.

“It’s not good for the government, people are clearly angry.”

Mr Shanahan says despite it being the first Newspoll of the year it’s looking good for Labor by saying, “Labor can win the election”.

With Anthony Albanese’s tactics coming under fire Dennis Shanahan believes it’s working stating, “It is cutting through, it is having an impact”.
