How childhood memories shaped this new feature film

A popular Australian author has reflected on his younger years in the creation of a new feature film.

Little Tornadoes, co-written by The Slap author Christos Tsiolkas, explores Australia in the 1970s.

Mr Tsiolkas told Deborah Knight he was only 6-years-old in the year the film is set.

“Some of my earliest memories include watching the Vietnam war on television.

“In a way, I used part of those memories to try and find my way into narration for the film.”
