The NSW Treasurer has branded Opposition Leader Michael Daley a liar as the war of words intensifies ahead of the election.

In an explosive interview with Alan Jones on Tuesday, Mr Daley promised to sack the majority of the SCG Trust board if elected.

He also claimed the Trust removed a fire extinguishing system from Allianz Stadium as a tactic to have a new stadium built.

Mr Daley has been called out on the lie, with the Trust confirming no such system was even installed when the stadium was built in 1988.

Treasurer Dominic Perrottet has come out swinging at a host of claims the alternative premier has been making.

“Michael Daley is entitled to his opinion, but he’s not entitled to his own set of facts.

“This campaign around stadiums, which equates to around two per cent of our infrastructure spend, demonstrates that Michael Daley and the Labor Party are running a campaign on a lie.

“He is a liar… and he’s the Sergeant Schultz of NSW politics who appears to know nothing about nothing.”

“He appears to go through life having no understanding of anything that is happening around him and some of the claims he made yesterday demonstrate that he is a liar and that he’s not fit to lead this state.”

Transport Minister Andrew Constance has continued the offensive, reminding voters of Michael Daley’s past.

In the final days of the last Labor government, Mr Constance tells Alan the then-finance minister appointed a disgraced union official to the board of a major public company.

“The last job that Michael Daley did as Minister in 2011, three days before caretaker, was to appoint the disgraced, jailed HSU union boss Michael Williamson to the board of Sydney Water.

“And for him to turn around yesterday and say I’m going to sack the [SCG] Trust, on the run… he is on display as being hot-headed, arrogant and very forgetful.”
