Imagine for a moment you have two small children with disabilities so severe they require 24-hour care.

They need to be fed through tubes, they’re wheelchair bound and they can’t speak.

Jordan and Olivia are brother and sister. Two teenagers who live in this reality.

Their parents, Rob Smith and Vanita Connery, are able to go to work by placing their two precious children into special care.

But imagine being told the government funding which covers the cost of this care is about to run out.

Rob and Vanita have been told that to get more funding, they have to make their own children wards of the state.

It seems unbelievable. But it’s the reality facing 1,700 families in NSW.

Ben has vowed to get to the bottom of it.

There will be more to come next week.
