Gabrielle Upton backflips on suspending Blue Mountains City Council

Local Government Minister Gabrielle Upton has backflipped on her decision to suspend the Blue Mountains City Council over serious asbestos allegations.

Earlier this month, Ms Upton issued a notice of intention to suspend the council following Ray Hadley’s investigation into alleged asbestos coverups.

Last week, Ms Upton issued the council with a “notice of intention to issue a performance improvement order”.

Ms Upton says she remains “seriously concerned about the Council’s inadequate processes to deal with asbestos”.

Mark Levy has slammed the Minister’s response.

“She’s gone and decided to revoke her suspension notice and give the Blue Mountains City Council another chance. Well, Minister, enough is enough.”
