Thousands of Sydney residents have been forced from their homes, and are now facing a nervous wait due to the flooding emergency in parts of Sydney’s west.

Almost 70 evacuation orders are now in place, with more residents in Ebenezer, Riverstone, Pitt Town, and Agnes Banks told to leave overnight.

Water levels at North Richmond have already risen above levels seen in March this year and could exceed flood levels seen in 2021.

The SES has made more than a hundred flood rescues since the disaster began, including another 18 overnight

Six evacuation centres are currently open in Canley Vale, Castle Hill, Gymea, Narellan, North Richmond, and Richmond and major flood warnings are in place for the Hawkesbury and Nepean Rivers.

The Hawkesbury River is currently sitting at 14.11 metres and remaining steady.

Emergency Services Minister Steph Cooke told Chris Smith, that Aussies are “over it”.
