Flood-hit farmers thrown $50,000 lifeline
Farmers in NSW are encouraged to apply for grants to help recover from recent flooding.
The payments, which can be up to $50,000, are part of a joint $100 million package from the NSW, Queensland and federal governments.
NSW Agriculture Minister Dugald Saunders told Mark Levy applications will be handled by the Rural Assistance Authority.
“For most people, … they’re already on the RAA’s books,” he said. “Whether it’s through the mouse plague or through drought, the RAA will have their details.
“If you’re in that scenario, you literally just need to give the RAA a call or you can jump on the website, they will have your details, so you don’t need to go through that annoying process of re-registering.”
Mr Saunders said the criteria has been kept simple.
“The first $10,000 is basically available to everyone; the extra $40-, you’ll have to show some invoicing.
“You need to have 50 per cent of your income derived from primary production.”
