First ever serial dumper jailed
A serial waste dumper has been jailed for the first time in New South Wales history, and it’s somebody well known to 2GB.
Dib Hanna has been dumping truckloads of deadly asbestos waste material in public places around Sydney for years.
In 2013, Ray Hadley reported Hanna was given a suspended sentence after dumping 80 tonnes of contaminated material at Picnic Point.
The next year he was caught again and fined $225,000.
Then the EPA found Hanna had dumped hundreds of tonnes of the material at Landilo, East Kurrajong and Wallacia.
After failing to clean up the mess, Hanna fled to Victoria but was arrested, extradited and now prosecuted.
He’s been sentenced to two years and three months behind bars.
He’s also been ordered to take out advertisements in the major newspapers to advertise his penalty as a deterrent to others.
