Federal MP backs Ben on the fight to scrap strict vaping rules
Ben Fordham has been campaigning strongly to scrap restrictions on e-cigarettes and he’s found an ally in the federal government.
Australia’s smoking rates are up for the first time in 10 years, and the healthier alternative of vaping is blocked under Australian law.
Those wanting to kick their smoking habit need a prescription to use the device and can face up to six months in jail if they’re caught vaping without one.
Federal MP Tim Wilson tells Ben Fordham he fully supports the push to legalise e-cigarettes.
“I have constituents coming to me and saying that they gave up cigarettes because they had access to vaping.
“For many people, it’s been a game changer.
“I think we should allow for vaping to occur in Australia. It’ll be better for people, it’ll be better for the health budget, it’ll be better for the nation.”
