Doctors are concerned about medical marijuana being delivered legally through online prescription services.

GPs are allowed to prescribe the drug for conditions like anxiety and cancer, but the medical watchdog requires doctors to consider all treatment options first.

The Royal Australian College of GPs says people are obtaining a script from a nurse, with a short follow up call from a doctor.

President of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, Dr Nicole Higgins told Mark Levy online prescriptions for medical marijuana are being used as a business model, which isn’t healthy.
