The search for a toddler missing on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast has ended in tragedy, with the little girl’s body found overnight.

The three-year-old vanished from her family’s home at Cootharaba, near Noosa, at about 3.30pm.

Police, the State Emergency Service and more than a hundred volunteers searched all afternoon and into the night.

The family’s worst fears were realised at around midnight, with police divers finding the girl’s body in a dam just 150 metres from her home.

Family members say the little girl had been watching TV just moments before she disappeared.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Alan Jones has offered his condolences to the family.

“They just go so quickly don’t they, you turn your back and they’re gone.

“Just terrible.”
