Deb Knight ‘slightly terrified’ about Today Show task
New Today Show host Deborah Knight admits she’s “slightly terrified” about taking over from Karl Stefanovic.
The Channel Nine veteran and 2GB presenter has been appointed to the highly coveted breakfast role in 2019.
Deb joins Georgie Gardner as part of the show’s first ever all-female, full time hosting line-up.
The struggling show has undergone a full makeover in the wake of Stefanovic’s axing, with newsreader Sylvia Jeffreys departing.
Deb tells Steve PriceĀ “it’s going to be a really ripper 2019”.
“They’re all top notch people.
“It sort of feels like the foundations are solid.
“I’m slightly terrified but also really excited about the year ahead.”
Some have claimed the all-female hosting team is a ploy to rebuild the show’s image following Karl’s larrikin ways.
Deb says that’s not the case.
“They’ve just sat down and said look, these are the people who are the best people for the job and it’s doesn’t matter about gender.
“Look, it’s a brave move for Australian TV to have two women, we haven’t had it before.
“But it’s not going to be the same format, it’s going to be more of an ensemble.”

As for Deb’s role at 2GB as a stand-in host… she’s keen to stay in touch.
“The radio is so good and I really hope to continue working with the 2GB family in some way, shape or form too because it’s such a rewarding thing.”
