The Prime Minister will turn the first sod as construction work officially starts on Sydney’s second airport at Badgerys Creek.

Along with the $5-billion airport, the area will also house a hi-tech business district.

Senior Government Minister Alan Tudge tells Steve Price the new facility will be completed within eight years and create thousands of new jobs.

“[It’s] been 50 years in the making Steve.

“By 2026 Western Sydney Airport will finally be opened and it’s not just good news for residents of Western Sydney from a gateway perspective, but it’s also a massive jobs boost.

“The development itself will create thousands of jobs.”

Mr Tudge says it’s a “huge undertaking”.
