‘Buckle up’: Transport Minister warns more strikes could be on the cards after federal election
NSW Transport Minister David Elliott is “nervous” about the future of “industrial harmony” after the election is over.
The RTBU has sent a warning threatening industrial action with “force and scale they’ve not yet seen”, however, those plans have been paused whilst negotiations continue.
The union is refusing to operate new trains because guards cannot properly see out of them to check platforms.
Employee Relations Minister Damien Tudehope threw a spanner in the works after declaring on Thursday the government will not meet the unions’ demands to address safety concerns with new intercity trains.
Mr Elliott told Mark Levy after the election is decided, the government will have to be “cautious” with the union.
“I’m very nervous about the future of industrial harmony post federal election.”
