A policeman has been stabbed in the chest on ANZAC Parade in Maroubra.

He is in a serious condition and has been rushed to hospital.

The alleged offender has been shot dead.

NSW Police have confirmed as part of an ongoing investigation, officers attended a licensed premises on Maroubra Road around 3pm.

The injured officer was attached to a specialist command.

Shop assistant Lara speaks exclusively to 2GB saying she heard four or five gun shots.

“I see a guy come out in handcuffs and another guy in a stretcher.

“It looked like they were coming out of the pub a couple of doors down.”

2GB reporter Georgia Holland is on the scene and says there is a heavy police presence.
