An investigation into one of Australia’s most decorated soldiers, Ben Roberts-Smith, has been slammed by the Graham Richardson.

The Fairfax Media investigation looks into allegations that Mr Roberts-Smith mistreated unarmed Afghans and allegedly bashed an unarmed Afghan.

There are also claims of domestic violence.

One half of the Big Guns Graham unleashed a scathing criticism on Fairfax Media for the “sickening” investigation.

“I think Ben Roberts-Smith is a genuine hero.

“As far as I’m concerned, I can sit here in the comfort of my lounge room, near the heater with a big screen TV in front of me and I can make all sorts of judgements about being out in the mountains of Afghanistan fighting the Taliban.

“Apparently I have to make these incredible distinctions between someone I think is a spotter for them who’s calling in the troops to kill me and my mate.

“Apparently I’ve got to treat him with respect an kindness.”

He says the pressure on troops to protect not only their lives but the lives of their “comrades and colleagues” is immense.

“I think Ben Roberts-Smith has done a remarkable job of doing that.

“There’s no evidence whatsoever of this smear of domestic violence.

“All this is is another one of these target Fairfax investigations that have been sickening me for 40 years and still do so.”
