A hard-working Scottish family is set to be deported tonight.

In 2012 Mark Green and his family moved here on a working visa after he was head-hunted by an Adelaide solar company but he has been unable to secure more work recently.

Now, the Department of Immigration is refusing to extend the family’s visa – sending them home at 10pm today.

Ben Fordham has questioned why the Biloela family was allowed to stay but the Green family is being sent to Scotland.

“Don’t ignore the double standard here – the minister is happy to show compassion when there’s enough publicity for him to look like a hero.

“He’ll step in to help one family but allow another to be kicked out of Australia.”

South Australian MP Frank Pangallo told Ben the double standard is clear.

“It’s just unfortunate that the federal government takes sides.”
