Former deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce has admitted he failed to convince his colleagues as Australia faces an imminent energy crisis.

The Australian Energy Market Operator has told 100 industry players that they may be forced to cut supply in coming days.

Mr Joyce called into Ben Fordham Live with concerns about rising power bills.

Ben Fordham: “You’ve tried to win the argument on coal and gas. I think what you’re telling us is you’ve failed, you’ve failed to convince your Coalition colleagues of the importance of what you were trying to say.”

Barnaby Joyce: “That’s completely correct. What I’m saying now is – it’s still not too late to change.”
