‘Band-aid solution’: Alice Springs locals say grog plan doomed to fail
Alice Springs business owner Darren Clarke has weighed in on the new restrictions that have been introduced in Alice Springs.
The Prime Minister spent 6 hours in Alice Springs, meeting with community leaders, police and the NT Chief Minister Natasha Fyles.
An immediate ban on takeaway alcohol sales on Mondays and Tuesdays and restricting it to one transaction per person per day every other day, between 3pm and 7pm has been introduced.
Darren who shared the reality of the violence last week on a call with Ben, said the new restrictions are “just a band-aid”.
“The wounds are still there, they’re not treating the wound.
“They’re taking alcohol off chronic alcoholics for two days a week… it does nothing.”
