Australia finally has a sparkling wine to rival France’s best champagne.

Last year Tasmania’s House of Arras won the ‘Best Sparkling’ trophy at every capital city wine show in the country.

It has been a 30-year labour of love for creator Ed Carr who originally set out to craft an Australian sparkling wine to rival the world’s best.

Tasmania has emerged as the perfect wine region with Ed telling Chris Smith that “climate is number one in sparkling winemaking so we’re looking for very cold, cold climate” and the island territory offers the steady temperatures they need.
