Chloe McCardel has already broken the men’s world record for English Channel crossings, and is now setting out to break the outright record of 43 swims.

The Sydney-based marathon swimmer will take the plunge into the 16-degree water at 4am Wednesday local time, despite not being in peak health.

“I’ve got a chest infection actually, so I’m on antibiotics,” she told Jim Wilson.

“I only swum my last crossing [on] Thursday last week!”
