Australian actor Kate Jenkinson is working as an ambassador with Cure Cancer after her own recent scare.

The star of Wentworth experienced her own gynaecological cancer fright a few years ago which put her hopes for a family in jeopardy.

Luckily, Kate was given the all-clear and was able to fall pregnant without issue.

The actor is “getting behind” the Big Hug Box campaign, which unites Australians to help mums, grandmothers, and women facing cancer by gifting and donating care packs to help during treatment.

Ms Jenkinson told Deborah Knight she wanted to get behind the cause due to her being a “direct benefactor” of precancerous research.

“There are people who aren’t so lucky and that’s why research is going to be an ongoing necessity and why I’m going to be getting behind this campaign,” she said.

All funds raised during the campaign will go towards cancer research.
