Ben Fordham slams Anthony Mundine for joining the anti-vax brigade

Australian boxing champion Anthony Mundine has come out against vaccinations on Twitter.

He implores parents to stop vaccinating their kids and claims the government “bully” people into vaccinating.

Ben Fordham has slammed him for rolling the dice with other people’s lives.

“It’s very dangerous, Anthony, when you use your public profile to spread BS about topics you know precious little about.

“I think you should shut up for a while.”

Listener Greg rang in to tell Ben Fordham he lost his one-year-old son to meningococcal meningitis.

He says Anthony Mundine should stick to what he knows.

“My view is that any sensible adult, if they’re interested in the welfare of their children, ought to get their children vaccinated.

“I think the fear of a pinprick is nothing compared to the fear of losing a child.”

Professor of Child and Adolescent Health at the University of Sydney Robert Booy says although the comments are dangerous, the everyday person doesn’t usually pay attention to them.

“When the surveys are done the average person on the street, the mum, the dad, they listen to their GP.

“They may notice what the WAGs and Anthony Mundine say but I don’t think they’re gonna act on it.”
