Clover Moore      June 27 2016

Well, another reason why critics, rightly, have Sydney Lord Mayor, Clover Moore, in their sights

I see she continues to splash ratepayers’ money around to fund her objections to the WestConnex motorway

Sydney City Council has already funded (at goodness knows what cost) an alternative WestConnex plan which was made public in May

That proposal was rejected by the State Government

Gladys Berejiklian said at the time “we have considered it but we are not going down the path of what they are advocating because it is a very CBD-centric view of the world”

You’d think that would be the end of the matter

But, no, Clover Moore now wants to spend $360,000 of ratepayers’ money funding an advertising campaign in support of her rejected alternative WestConnex plan

In other words, she wants to spend ratepayers’ money promoting a plan, already canned by the State Government, trying to halt construction of a motorway that is already under construction

A clearly delusional Clover Moore claims it is still possible to stop, or delay, construction of stages 2 and 3 of the WestConnex

The Council was due to approve or reject this $360,000 spend on an anti-WestConnex advertising campaign last night

I’m not sure how that vote played out

But if the campaign was approved, that would constitute a massive waste of money for no purpose whatsoever

How much longer can Sydney City Council ratepayers be expected to put up with Lord Mayor, Clover Moore?
