The NSW Active Transport Minister has been grilled over a controversial inner city cycleway.

Residents have been calling for the cycleway on Bridge Road in Glebe to be removed after an independent safety assessment identified 26 risk areas.

Now, fresh concerns have been raised around cars having to drive around garbage trucks that can no longer pull over.

NSW Active Transport Minister Rob Stokes told Ben Fordham they’re looking into making it possible for garbage trucks to pull over.

Ben Fordham: “I don’t understand why it’s such a big deal to just say … ‘this one doesn’t work’.

Rob Stokes: “Because that’s not what the evidence is telling us.”

Ben Fordham: “All the accidents and the near misses would tell you that the evidence is in and this is dangerous.”
