South Australia’s Liberal party won government at the weekend and they’ve got their work cut out for them.

With the highest electricity prices in the country, the new government is facing pressure from the public.

Chris Kenny asks South Australia’s new Premier Steven Marshall whether he’ll be supporting the Turnbull Government’s National Energy Guarantee.

Mr Marshall says he will if it means putting downward pressure on prices.

“What we want to do is leave the Energy Security Board to do the work that it needs to do.

“If they can show that it’s actually going to reduce prices, well then we’ll be backing it 100%.”

Premier Marshall says he’ll be scrapping the outgoing Labor government’s state-based renewable energy target.

“We need to have affordable, reliable baseload power coming into South Australia.”
