The Parliamentary Budget Office’s projection that Australia could return to budget surplus by 2035, which 2GB Afternoons host Michael McLaren labelled “heroically optimistic.”

“We won’t be getting to surplus in 2035,” McLaren said on 2GB Afternoons. 

“On this one, I think they’ve drunk the modelling Kool-Aid.”
