‘We don’t want to sell a dud’: Frank Brennan calls for clarity on the Voice
A parliamentary committee inquiry into the Voice Referendum is underway to examine the wording of the government’s proposed constitutional amendments.
The Prime Minister has already endorsed the words put forward by the Referendum Working Group and it’s still not clear as to how vocal the Voice will be.
Key architects of the Voice, Megan Davis and Noel Pearson want the Voice to be heard on lots of things, but Albanese thinks the Voice will ‘stick’ to issues that only impact Indigenous Australians.
Father Frank Brennan is a Professor of Law and a Jesuit Priest, who says Indigenous people “want certainty”.
“It makes more sense to get wording in there that’s very clear,” said Father Brennan.
