A new technology called mRNA under trial revealed promising results in the development of a new vaccine able to treat melanoma that can save thousands of lives.

The Director of the BASE mRNA Facility at the University of QLD, Dr Tim Mercer reveals the mRNA vaccine has had promising results.

“This year we’re expecting to start seeing phase three which is sort of the last step of the clinical trial,” Dr Mercer said.

“Within the next decade, you’ll start to see the use of vaccines and therapies for a lot of different applications.”

Dr Mercer believes he will have other mRNA vaccines for other infectious diseases in the next couple of years, with melanoma not far behind.
