Michael McLaren

Streets in central Sydney are being reopened after thousands of nurses walked off the job to march through the streets.

Nurses are asking the State Government to pay attention to their demands, saying they are understaffed and overworked.

It comes as the NSW health system strains under the latest coronavirus wave.

NSWNMA Shoalhaven District Hospital branch president Michael Clarke told Deborah Knight nurses are striking for better pay and staffing levels.

“We are looking for a suitable increase of pay for our members, we want a 7 per cent pay rise.”
