Labor Minister shies away from calling for Lidia Thorpe’s resignation

2GB Afternoons

A Labor Minister believes more time is needed before any decision is made about the future of  Lidia Thorpe.

The Greens Senator dated the former president of an outlaw motorcycle gang, while sitting on a parliamentary law enforcement committee.

Minister for Industry and Science Ed Husic told Deborah Knight the revelations were concerning, but isn’t yet calling for Lidia Thorpe to be kicked out.

“It’s a decision for Adam Bandt and the Greens, but I think there are a lot of questions which need to be answered.”

Shadow treasurer Angus Taylor says the Greens Senator should leave immediately.

“It’s simple, she has no choice but to be removed. She is clearly not fit to remain in parliament.”
