‘Be vigilant!’: Communication Minister’s warning on Optus cyber attack

Chris O'Keefe

Optus says a massive cyber attack on the telco could have been executed by a crime gang or even a foreign state.

The hackers hid their tracks by shifting their online location markers across different European countries.

Optus chief executive Kelly Bayer Rosmarin says they’re working closely with government authorities and federal police.

Communications Minister Michelle Rowland told Chris O’Keefe that the attack is “something that has never been experienced in Australia on this scale”.

“This is exactly the kind of fodder that scammers pray on.”
