Worrying foot and mouth outbreak could cost Australia $80 billion

Concerns are growing over an outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Indonesia’s livestock. 

If the virus breaches the Australian border, our meat export market would effectively be shut down

The estimated cost of the virus in Australia is $80 billion.

Currently extra biosecurity measures are in place for travellers from Indonesia with calls for further measures such as footbaths at airports.
