How housing policy has pushed prices up

A recent report has detailed how housing policy has made property more unaffordable. 

Over the last decade, consecutive governments have spent over $20 billion on first home buyer help.

The report shows that the policies have driven prices up and have left existing homeowners better-off.

The Grattan Institute’s Brendan Coats joined Luke Grant on Drive to explain the report’s findings and how better to address housing affordability.

“You’ve got to address the underlying drivers … and so much of that is because we’re not building enough,” he said.
