NSW Labor leader rejects exit payout for state MPs

Ben Fordham

NSW Opposition Leader Chris Minns is slamming a proposal that would see NSW MPs resign, or lose an election, receive a financial settlement.

The state Premier is considering the proposal.

At the federal level, every MP who leaves Canberra after the election receives a $100,000 resettlement allowance.

NSW Opposition Leader Chris Minns told Ben Fordham it is not a good idea at a state level.

“Taxpayers shouldn’t have to fork out money if they decide that their member of parliament shouldn’t be their MP anymore.”
