A Sydney nurse has revealed in confronting detail the consequences of not taking public health measures seriously.

Liverpool Intensive Care Unit nurse manager Michelle Dowd gripped Sydneysiders at yesterday’s press conference with her account of working on the COVID frontline, and an impassioned plea to get vaccinated.

She joined Ray Hadley to elaborate on her moving story of comforting COVID patients as they die.

“It is the hardest thing we have to do … because to us, it is avoidable – there are measures that we can take, and it’s really frustrating to hear about the people not doing the right thing.

“Yeah, we’re all sick of lockdown, we’re all sick of the rules and the border closures, but a lot of people don’t know the face of COVID.

“We see the face of COVID every day, and it literally rips our hearts out.”
