Restaurateur hopes ‘insidious tax’ put on hold after ‘robust’ negotiations with Treasurer

Acclaimed Sydney chef Luke Mangan is optimistic the NSW government is on the cusp of offering small businesses further financial relief.

Mr Mangan told Jim Wilson he’s been in “robust conversations” today with NSW Treasurer Dominic Perrottet about easing payroll tax obligations.

“It’s an insidious tax that is put on small business … operators to employ people.

“Let’s look at abolishing, or putting on hold the payroll tax … he did it for three months, but I pushed for further.

“He really took note, and I think something may happen in the future to perhaps delay it for 12 months.”
