Minister says new paintball age limit eliminates ‘nanny state’
Children as young as 12 are now allowed to play paintball after the NSW government’s lowered the age limit.
Paintball was previously treated as a firearm, regulated by the NSW Police, and the age limit to play was 16.
Safety experts are concerned about younger children being injured when competing against older players.
NSW Better Regulation Minister Kevin Anderson tells Ben Fordham children under the age of 18 need written consent from their parents.
“I think it’s lifting the heavy-handed regulation… I think it’s getting rid of some of that nanny state.
“It’s a sport, let them play!”
