WATCH | Four arrested, three on the run following sickening police assault
Four people have been arrested following a violent assault that left two Melbourne police officers injured.
Police were called to St Kilda early on Sunday morning following reports of an alleged assault.
When they arrived, two officers were set upon by a group.
Confronting vision shows the sickening attack, with one officer having his head repeatedly slammed against the road.

Both officers were hospitalised, with one undergoing surgery and the other still being monitored.
A 26-year-old St Kilda man, a 27-year-old Langwarrin man, a 25-year-old Langwarrin woman and a 38-year-old Frankston man have been arrested.
They’ve all been charged with two counts of assault police, affray, violent disorder, intentionally cause injury and other assault-related offences.
Three other offenders remain on the run, with police vowing to find and arrest them.
Victorian Police Union secretary Wayne Gatt has told Macquarie Radio it’s the most “disgusting” attack seen in recent times.
