90 years on: The boy who went on one of the first walks on the Sydney Harbour Bridge

Ben Fordham has caught up with a man present at the opening of the Harbour Bridge, in celebration of the icon’s 90th birthday.

Ian Litchfield was one of the first people to walk across the Harbour Bridge.

He was just five-years-old when he walked across the bridge with his engineer father before the official opening.

“I’m very proud of my father,” he told Ben Fordham.

The owner of a 1936 Ford Coupe, Malcolm Campbell, will participate in a vintage convoy across the bridge tomorrow.

The convoy will be escorted across the bridge by police after 8am.
