Could fungus spread by zombie ants bring an apocalypse akin to the hit TV series, The Last of Us?

La Trobe University researcher Scott Williams said we may not be at this stage yet but his research into crocodiles presents a breakthrough in treating fungal infections.

The crocodile’s antifungal defenses could serve as a template to treat fungal infections but in a strange twist these are also able to control the minds of ants, turning them into a zombie-like state so they spread the fungal infection.
