‘You’ve got nothing to worry about’: Premier’s message to music festivals
The Premier is standing by new rules around music festivals, which come into effect from tomorrow.
The new licensing scheme was announced in the wake of five drug-related deaths at events over Summer.
Festival organisers and musicians have been protesting against the changes, concerned about the impact.
Premier Gladys Berejiklian tells Alan Jones only 14 festivals out of almost 100 have been deemed “high risk”.
“The vast majority that have got nothing to worry about have been told, ‘You’ve got nothing to worry about, carry on, business as usual.'”
“But for some of them, Alan, we’ve been saying to them you do need more medical attention on site, you do need a bit more security… for the very high risk ones.
“I don’t want to see families lose young people unnecessarily.”
