NSW religious leaders are pushing for an exemption to vaccine passports on the grounds no one should be turned away from church.

Once the state hits 70 per cent double doses, fully vaccinated people will be allowed to attend church, with capacity limited to one person per four square metre rule.

Catholic Archbishop of Sydney Anthony Fisher, Anglican Archbishop of Sydney Kanishka Raffel and St George North Anglican Church minister Phil Colgan are lobbying the Health Minister for an exemption.

Minister Colgan went as far as suggesting the church would ignore health orders.

“While we respect the great work that churches do in the community, be under no illusion, you have a duty of care and you’re not above the law,” Ben Fordham opined on his Breakfast show.
