‘You’re kidding yourself’: Ben Fordham blasts those wanting to silence ‘Imam of Peace’

“If you think you’re going to lecture me about the kind of voices I want my listeners to hear, you’re kidding yourself.”

Ben Fordham is not about to be silenced, by anyone, and he’s launched a sensational attack after a journalist’s attempt to silence one of his guests.

The self-styled Imam of Peace Mohammad Tawhidi is a man with a significant following.

While other Muslim leaders are quick to blame police or politicians – as we’ve seen this week following the Bourke Street attack –  Imam Tawhidi calls it for what it is.

He describes radical Islam as a cancer and warns about an increasing number of Muslims being radicalised in Australia.

In response to last Friday’s terror incident and the criticism aimed at Prime Minister Scott Morrison which followed, Ben invited Imam Tawhidi onto his program.

He told Ben the Prime Minister was right to call out the dangers of radical Islamic extremism, but instead of being praised for his comments, disgruntled journalists now want him silenced.

Today, a journalist emailed 2GB a list of questions, in an attempt to corner Ben into booting the imam off the station.

“Now where do I start here,” says Ben.

So why does Ben Fordham have him on the show?

The answer is simple.

“I was sick and tired of hearing that there was no-one in the Islamic community prepared to call out the extremists.

“I was fed up with hearing that line over and over, that nobody in the Muslim community was prepared to speak up.

“That’s why I’ve sought to bring you a range of voices who do speak up about these issues.

“So to those in the media who choose not to talk to him, go for your life.

“But you think you’re going to lecture me about the kind of voices I want my listeners to hear, you’re kidding yourself.”
