Young voters drifting from Coalition

Joe Hildebrand

A new report has revealed that Millennials and Gen Z are leaning more towards left-wing politics and moving away from supporting the Coalition as they age.

Matthew Taylor, director of the Intergenerational Research Program at the Centre for Independent Studies delved into the findings of their study.

He explained that the millennial shift “towards the coalition is happening … at half the rate that we saw for Boomers and Gen X”.

Taylor further emphasised that challenges, such as the rental crisis, could be influencing young people’s political preferences.
