Ben Fordham has slammed Greens Senator Lidia Thorpe, after she claimed the Australian flag has “no consent to be here”.

In an interview, Senator Thorpe said “The Australian flag does not represent me or my people, it represents the colonisation of these lands, it has no permission to be here, there has been no consent”.

Ms Thorpe’s controversial comments come after Greens leader Adam Bandt refused to stand in front of the Australian flag at press conferences.

“Your extremist approach does nothing to help ‘your people’ as you like to call them,” Ben said in response to Thorpe’s comments.

“Your campaign of hate is out of place.

“It does nothing to unite the nation.

“Many Indigenous Australians want you to know you do not represent them!”

The Greens’ decision to remove the Australian flag from press conferences has been criticised by Indigenous leaders including Warren Mundine and Jacinta Price.
